Matsuzushi Is Back — Under New Ownership, Same Soul

Matsuzushi, the family sushi counter at 3130 St. Johns Street that closed at the end of 2025 after more than two decades, reopened on September 4 under new ownership. The man behind the counter is Kodai Hattori, a close friend and former colleague of the original chef.

The menu is largely the same as the one regulars know: the omakase is now 12 pieces for $55 (up from 11 for $50), and the rest of the menu — sashimi, nigiri and roll sets, grilled sablefish, chawanmushi — reads like the old one.
