A Grocery Store Is Finally Coming to St. Johns Street

For years, residents and council alike have called this stretch of Moody Centre a food desert — just two grocery stores serving the whole city. That’s about to change.

Construction is now underway at St. Johns and Queens on a six-storey mixed-use building that will bring a roughly 9,500-square-foot Bosa Foods specialty grocery store to the ground floor, with rental apartments above. The project’s been years in the making — first proposed in 2022, approved through council in 2024.

“I live in this general area, and I will be visiting this grocery store regardless of what they sell there,” Coun. Kyla Knowles said when the project was approved.

The store is planned with a covered outdoor patio along St. Johns Street, a rooftop greenhouse, and a deli counter — modeled on Bosa’s existing Vancouver locations.
